Be A Traditionist: Josh Boyd at TEDxPurdueU
With so much economic, political, and societal uncertainty, we need anchors that we can rely on to provide stability to our lives. Dr. Josh Boyd argues that traditions keep us grounded and help us to navigate a constantly changing world, and he also shows how we can all find our own meaningful traditions.
Dr. Boyd has been on the faculty at Purdue University for 15 years, where he has won Purdue's top undergraduate teaching award. He teaches students how to be more critical consumers of communication messages, and his research focuses on corporate rhetoric and how corporations "speak" and attempt to persuade multiple and overlapping audiences.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
